When I saw the ultra modern Archiquarium fish tanks designed by Karl Oskar, I immediately thought it would make an awesome modern dollhouse after some proper bashing.
If you follow the same mini blogs I do, you’ll know that converting nifty fish tanks to modern dollhouses is not a new idea. The Call of the Small blog did just that with the Fish Hotel from SFMOMA. (PS do also check out Call Small’s blog and her Flickr for more modern eye candy!)
As for the Archiquarium, it is currently in production to be sold sometime in the future. I searched around, but was not able to find any kind of pricing information. My guess is that it will be expensive, but probably not more so than the cost of an actual modern dollhouse (e.g. $300+).
Wow that is a lovely tank you don’t see anything like that over here
The designer is Swedish and his product is in the process of being made, so I bet you it will hit the European market before the US.
I’ve bookmarked the site to keep an eye on, I wouldn’t even mind if I didn’t evict the fish as I think they would stunning used in both ways. I prefer the one on the left as it has more to view and I think would make a great house by the Ocean.
How do you find the coolest things all the time? I think the one on the left would make a totally awesome house. 🙂
I subscribe to a bunch of design blogs. This aquarium was making the rounds. I like the one on the left too!
COOL! Thanks for sharing, and I appreciate the mention of my own fish condo exploits! 😉 I want to come back to it again, actually!
No problem! You’re actually one of the people out there that got me started on converting 1:1 scale items to 1:12 😉
Can’t wait to see what else you do with the fish condos!
